There are numerous rumors currently ongoing about the launch of Windows 12. With this new leak, it gives us concrete evidence of the existence of an upcoming upgrade to the world’s most popular desktop operating system. According to a new report by The Verge, a hardware leakster by name @leaf_hobby has revealed some details of Intel’s Meteor Lake desktop platform. The leak reveals that Intel’s upcoming processor will have support for Windows 12.
This tweet did not last long on Twitter since it was deleted shortly after. The Verge has approached both Microsoft and Intel on this new leak. Both companies have declined to comment on the accuracy of this report.
Microsoft Could Launch a New Windows OS Every Three Years After Windows 12
Prior to this, we have already seen a report from Zac Bowden of Windows Central claiming we could see new Windows OS every 3 years. He reported that Microsoft is switching to a new engineering schedule. This new schedule will allow the company to launch a new Windows OS every three years. The validity of this report will simply mean that Microsoft will launch a new Windows OS in 2024.

There is another rumor which claims that Windows 12 will be the first operating system to be hosted in the cloud. In as much as it could be a good idea for Microsoft, I don’t think the users will find this appealing. Having a cloud-based operating system means that you would need to subscribe to use it.
Apart from subscriptions, there may be other important features and services that may not come free. Your files and data may be safe. But the comfort and flexibility of using a locally installed operating system may be gone. Not forgetting the fact that we may be required to pay some subscription fees periodically to keep using the service.
