Samsung is set to launch its new mid-range smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A54, in India on March 16. While the global launch date is yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated that Indian smartphone consumers will get to see the device first. The Samsung Galaxy A54 will have many exciting features, such as an improved camera, high-speed refresh rate, powerful chipset, and more. Let’s look at the Design, Specs and Price of the upcoming, now unaffordable smartphone from the Korean giant.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy A54 boasts an innovative design compared to its predecessor, eliminating the camera bump in favor of the triple camera system. The new camera design closely resembles that of the Galaxy S23. The back of the phone is flat, while the rounded edges provide a more convenient grip. The A54 will come in black and white shades and a range of vibrant color options.

According to the renders, the bezels on the left and right sides will be nearly identical, and the phone’s display will have a small hole in its center for a front-facing camera. The phone will come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED Full HD screen with 2340 x 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The 120Hz refresh rate will deliver a smooth scrolling experience and high frame-rate gaming to consumers.

Performance and Specifications

Samsung Galaxy A54 Specs

The Galaxy A54 will feature Samsung Exynos 1380 chipset based on a 5nm process. This chipset performs well with four of its ARM Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four ARM Cortex A55 cores clocking at 2 GHz. It also includes the Mali G68 GPU, which enables it to support resolutions as high as 1080 full HD and refresh rates of up to 144 Hz. The chipset is capable of working with both LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

This chip supports 4K video recording at 30fps with EIS and HDR and real-time object recognition capabilities to enhance camera performance. The Samsung Exynos 1380 SoC offers support for 5G networks and can connect to mmWave and sub-6GHz networks, offering speeds of download up to 3.67Gbps and upload speeds up to 1.28Gbps.

Gizchina News of the week

In December of 2022, an A54 made an appearance on Geekbench 5 with some impressive specifications. The device was equipped with the Exynos 1380 SoC, and 6GB of RAM and was running on the latest Android 13 operating system. It performed remarkably well on the benchmark test, scoring 776 in the single-core test and 2599 in the multi-core test.

These scores are comparable to those of the Samsung Galaxy A73, indicating that the phone’s performance is on par with the Snapdragon 778G chip. In other words, this phone will likely deliver a fast and smooth user experience, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without any lags or delays.

Reports suggest the phone will offer a maximum of 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. There will be a 5,000mAh battery that along with 25W fast charging. The phone will likely have an IP67 rating, providing dust and water resistance. The device will feature NFC, OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual SIM functionality. It will run on Samsung’s OneUI 5.0 based on latest publicly available Android version, Android 13.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy A54 Camera

There is a triple camera setup on this phone. The upcoming Galaxy A53 will have a 50MP primary camera on its rear with OIS, replacing the previous 64MP primary sensor. Despite the reduction in megapixel count, the new sensor will offer better image quality due to the improved lens. Alongside the primary camera, the device will also have a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 5MP macro camera.

For selfies, the front-facing camera will be located in a punch-hole and feature a 32MP sensor. Overall, the Galaxy A53 appears to have an impressive camera setup, offering a range of lenses for versatile photography options.

Samsung Galaxy A54 Price

Reports of leaked pricing for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A54 in Europe have recently surfaced online. These reports indicate that the smartphone will have two variants. The first is an 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option, expected to be priced at €519 ($552). The second variant will have a larger 8GB RAM + 256GB storage capacity and is expected to cost €569 ($605). There is the possibility of a 6GB variant with 128GB storage, but considering the price point, it is highly likely Samsung may not introduce that.

These prices take the Galaxy A54 out of the affordable smartphone category. The likes of realme, Xiaomi, and vivo in the same price range offer several premium flagship smartphones. I am unsure how Samsung plans to win this category with such a pricing strategy. That said, there are also rumors that Samsung may offer the Galaxy A54 at even lower prices in certain regions.
