Pedometer++ Adds Support for Live Activities, Map-Based Workout Mode for Apple Watch
And with a new update to version 5.0, the app has added a wealth of new features.
First up is iPhone workout tracking. Previously, the app has offered workout tracking for Appel Watch users only. But now, anyone can see data about their walk including duration, distances speed, and more.
Thanks to that, you can now select from a number of Live Activity styles to show information on your lock screen or even the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro series. Along with duration and distance, you can even see a love updating map with your current location.
For hikers, you can now import GPX routes or save previously completed walks as a favorite. All of those mapping tiles can be saved for offline access. The routes will also sync to an Apple Watch and you can share the maps offline.
Speaking of the Apple Watch, there is also a new map-based workout mode. That will display a live map on your wrist when walking. The feature will even work with the watch’s Always-On Display so you can see a dimmed version of the map that continues to update.
With the Apple Watch Ultra, you can use the Acton Button to start a workout and swap between a map an metric view.
Pedometer++ is designed for the iPhone and Apple Watch. It’s a free download on the App Store.
There is an optional Pedometer++ Premium subscription for $1.99 per month or $19.99 yearly. You can try out either option with a free, 7-day trial.
Subscribers can unlock a a number of additional features including workout tracking on your iPhone, the ability to see your position on a live map, route overlays, offline maps, Apple Watch maps, and Live Activities.
You can also unlock other additional icons and remove all advertisements.
