Cyberpunk 2077 will finally let you ride the metro
Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 will have a juicy new piece of content to enjoy soon with the game’s upcoming version 2.1 update. Announced today by CD PROJEKT RED, the 2.1 update is free and will include some highly requested features. This will be in addition to stuff that wasn’t necessarily requested but it adds quality-of-life improvements to the game nonetheless. The version 2.1 update will be live for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X starting on December 5.
Likely the biggest improvement will be the ability to ride the metro. Those who have played Cyberpunk 2077 for more than a few hours know how big the game is. Night City is a sprawling metropolis that is fun to explore. All its nooks and crannies can hide some of the game’s most interesting things. However, the city’s size also means you have to drive, walk, or fast travel everywhere.
There’s been no native way to just ride around the city without having to control a vehicle yourself. Like say, by riding the metro. But that’s changing. Riding the metro has been one of the most requested features in the game since it came out a few years ago.
An official way to ride the metro was never released, although it was made possible with the installation of community mods. But now, it’ll just be there as one of the game’s many features. No mods required.
The 2.1 update for Cyberpunk 2077 also adds replayable car races
One of the game’s more fun style of missions are the car races. But you could never replay these to gain extra cash or rewards. Version 2.1 will introduce replayable car races that will provide just that. CDPR says that in replaying these race missions, players will be able to earn additional rewards. These races will also get players additional discounts on buying cars. For anyone who has yet to buy up every vehicle possible, this will be a good replayable piece of content.
If you plan to replay any of the races once the update goes live, you may want to start thinking about which car you’ll use. This update will add in new vehicles including motorcycles and the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. It will also introduce updated motorcycle handling. There are a few different motorcycles in the game but most of them didn’t handle as well as some of the actual cars. So this will hopefully improve things enough to make it more enjoyable to ride them around Night City.
You can check out the scope of these changes via CDPR’s livestream clip on Twitch from earlier this morning, or read the official blog post. You can also see a breakdown of some of the changes in the image below.
