Modern technology gives us many things.

Classic Camera App Hipstamatic Relaunches With a Photo-Sharing Social Network

That was before Instagram came along and took the thunder out of Hipstamatic. The app never disappeared, but has been left in relative obscurity in the App Store.

Instagram, on the other hand, continued it massive popularity. But with that has come a massive amount of ads, an algorthimic-based feed, and a host of other video features “borrowed” from other apps.

The simple ability to share photos with friends has taken a huge back seat.

But with a new update, Hipstamatic is looking to be what Instagram used to be with a new social network

A great anecdote to Instagram is that you can only follow a maximum of 99 people, with only nine of those as friends who can be designated as close friends. So make sure to choose your friends wisely.

All of the photos you post, available with Hipstamtlc’s large catalog of filters, are only visible for 30 days.

When viewing your friends feeds, you can give kudos stamps and stickers to the photos you love.

To add to the retro vibe, all of the photos from friends appear as a stack that you can thumb through.

Instead of trying to compete with Instagram directly, the updated Hipstamatic provides a fun and unique way to share photos with the people you care about, and nothing else. How retro.

Hipstamatic is designed for the iPhone and can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

There is an optional subscription of $4.99 per month or $29.99 yearly.

Subscribers will receive their preferred username on the social network, premium flitters, editing features, and more. You’ll also be able to receive premium features on the company’s two other apps—Hipstamatic Classic and IncrediBooth.
